Word: What's a clicktivist?

September 20, 2016 at 7:42PM

Definition: "One who uses social media and the internet to advance social causes." (OED)

Sample usage: "I don't understand why plastic bags are still legal in Russia. We hired a clicktivist to write at least 10 Facebook posts in favor of banning them."

Popularity: It's well-intentioned, but you suspect it will be used sarcastically to describe people who think 10K retweets are the equivalent of filling the Mall in Washington, D.C.
