Word of the day: Mantrum

March 22, 2016 at 3:00PM

Definition: Male-type person + tantrum = mantrum.

Sample usage: "Oh, there were just baseballs in these plastic boxes. And there were, like, names written on them, but he never used them, so I gave them to Goodwill. And he threw a total mantrum about it."

Popularity: If you're a man, you don't throw tantrums. Not even Al Pacino and his "little friend" threw a mantrum in "Scarface." It's a word meant to demean, used by women when talking to other women. Use that word on a man and it's over.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
