While thousands will head to the Minnesota State Fair this weekend, Woodbury residents and those nearby will be flocking to Ojibway Park for a get-together of their own.

The occasion is the annual Woodbury Days, a party that has grown in size and substance since the late summer party began 32 years ago. With three days of family-oriented activities, sporting events and a giant parade, the celebration, put on largely by an all-volunteer committee, attracts more than 25,000 people.

Among the highlights of this year's bash, which takes place Friday through next Sunday, is the Woodbury Days Bike Ride. Setting off from Colby Lake Park, participants can choose a 10-mile route around Woodbury, a 30-mile route through Afton and Lake Elmo or a 60-mile trek that takes riders through Stillwater and along the Gateway Trial and back to Woodbury.

The fun also will include a car show, a choreographed fireworks extravaganza at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, a 100-unit parade starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, and the always-popular Taste of Woodbury and carnival during all three days. Musical offerings include Boogie Wonderland at 7 p.m. Friday and the Dweebs at 7 p.m. Saturday.

A full schedule of events is available at www.woodburydays.com.
