Authorities have identified two women who died early Friday in a house fire in rural Cass County.
First responders were called to a house in Kego Township, near Longville, at 12:34 a.m. Friday, according to Sheriff Tom Burch. The home was fully engulfed in flames.
After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of 86-year-old Alice Moe of Longville and 48-year-old Toni Mix of Remer were found inside, authorities said Saturday.
The women died of smoke inhalation, Burch said. An investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
