A woman was shot in the leg early Sunday in an apartment in North St. Paul, police said.

No arrests were made Sunday, but authorities said it was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 2300 block of 11th Avenue S. at 4:40 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a disturbance, said North St. Paul police Capt. Dustin Nikituk. They found the wounded woman and she was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Her injuries are not life-threatening, Nikituk said.

The SWAT team was deployed to help with searching and site security, Nikituk said. The apartment complex where the shooting happened and a couple of nearby apartments were evacuated for several hours. Residents were allowed to go back home by 11:30 a.m.

Other media reported that the shooter was the woman's mother, but Nikituk said he could not comment on that.
