The woman killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Hwy. 7 in Victoria has been identified as Julie Anne Lizak.

Lizak, 49, of Excelsior, was driving a Chevy Suburban west on Hwy. 7 near Hawks Pointe Lane when she crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound semitrailer truck about 8:20 a.m., the State Patrol said.

Authorities closed Hwy. 7 for several hours after the wreck.

Lizak, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, the patrol said.

The truck driver, Todd Breyer, 40, of Glencoe, Minn., was not hurt.

Lizak was the first person to die on the roads this year in Minnesota. Preliminary numbers show 394 motorists were killed in crashes last year, up 30 from 2019 and the most since 2015, when 411 people were killed, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
