An elderly woman was killed and two other women were hospitalized with multiple fractures after two cars collided in East Bethel Monday.

A vehicle driven by an 85-year-old East Bethel woman and carrying an 87-year-old passenger apparently ran through a stop sign and was struck as it entered Cty. Rd. 22, said Lt. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County sheriff's office. The 87-year-old passenger was killed on impact, Sommer said.

The driver was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital and listed in serious condition. The driver of the other car, a 30-year-old woman from Anoka, was taken to Mercy Hospital. She had multiple fractures, but was conscious, Sommer said.

None of the victims was immediately identified, pending a medical examiner's report, Sommer said.
