A Stillwater woman was injured when the 37-foot boat she was on crashed into the Stillwater Lift Bridge Friday evening.

Just after 7 p.m., a 1967 Northbound Pleasure Craft crashed into the lift portion of the bridge as it was closing, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Office news release.

As the boat traveled under the upper portion of the bridge, its upper portion was sheared off, authorities said.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor, the Sheriff's Office said.

The "Minnesota Department of Transportation was called out to perform an inspection of the Lift Bridge to ensure its integrity," the news release said.
