A woman fatally stabbed her husband in their Newport home early Sunday, authorities said.
The incident occurred at the couple's home in the 400 block of 6th Avenue, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies arrived shortly after 6:30 a.m. and found the man in the living room bleeding heavily. He was not breathing and did not have a pulse, according to emergency dispatch audio.
The woman told a responding deputy that she stabbed her husband and that he had been trying to kill her earlier that morning, according to the audio.
The Sheriff's Office said the man and woman were taken to the hospital; the man did not survive.
The case is under investigation.
