Woman encounters wedding-dress woes

Hoping to find a wedding dress that would make her look taller, the petite bride-to-be was talked into buying a "mermaid style gown" that was several sizes too big. Her salesperson assured her alterations would cost less than $500. But the woman can't find a tailor willing to do the work for less than $500. Not even the St. Paul shop where she originally bought the dress, which had promised a discount. Even worse, one tailor said the dress would actually make her look shorter. The woman is running out of hope. "I felt as if when I bought the dress in January, they were focused on the sale more than the person," she said. Have you had a frustrating wedding dress experience?
