A woman has died after being found inside a burning house in St. Paul on Friday, according to the city's Fire Department.

Fire crews arrived around 1:15 p.m. Friday at the house, located in the 500 block of W. Jefferson Avenue off West Seventh Street. Flames were visible and smoke was pouring out of windows on the second floor.

Firefighters found the woman immediately after entering the home. She was taken to Regions Hospital in critical condition.

She was given CPR and paramedics were able to establish a pulse on the way to the hospital. However, she died at the hospital at 6:54 p.m. Friday, according to the Fire Department.

The Ramsey County medical examiner's office will release her name and cause of death.

Fire crews were able to put out the house fire. The Fire Department did not release the cause. A neighboring house was also damaged, the heat melting a side wall.

Two people have died in fire-related incidents in St. Paul this year, according to the Fire Department.
