A semitrailer truck hit a car broadside early Sunday in west-central Minnesota, killing the driver of the smaller vehicle, authorities said.

The collision occurred about 3:30 a.m. at Hwy. 7 and 135th Street just outside of Prinsburg, roughly 20 miles southwest of Willmar, according to the State Patrol.

Dead at the scene was Lisa Sunvold, 47, of Renville, Minn., the patrol said.

The truck driver, Walt Palma, 35, of Redwood Falls, Minn., was taken in an air ambulance to a hospital in St. Cloud with serious injuries, the patrol added.

The semi was heading east on Hwy. 7, when it hit the southbound car broadside, according to the patrol. Traffic on Hwy. 7 has the right of way at that intersection.
