A female inmate in the Hennepin County jail died Wednesday afternoon after suffering an apparent seizure, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.
The 38-year-old woman collapsed about 4:55 p.m. in front of other inmates and jail workers, said Lisa Kiava, a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.
Kiava said the woman was treated by jail personnel before being taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died.
Her name was not released Wednesday. The Hennepin County medical examiner's office will determine the cause of her death.
