A pedestrian was fatally struck by a United Parcel Service delivery truck in Fridley on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Just after 1:30 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of University Avenue and Osborne Road on a report of a pedestrian-involved car accident.

Authorities pronounced a 78-year-old woman from Spring Lake Park dead at the scene.

Fridley police Lt. Ryan George said the UPS truck was traveling north on University and making a right turn onto Osborne when it struck the victim in the crosswalk.

Authorities are working to determine who had the right of way at the time. George said the driver spoke with investigators and is cooperating with the investigation.

The State Patrol and Anoka County Sheriff's Office are investigating.
