Minnetonka police are investigating what led to the death of a woman whose body was discovered outside Thursday morning.

Police did emphasize early on that they do not suspect foul play is behind the death of the 59-year-old woman, whose body was found about 6:50 a.m. in the 11000 block of Pioneer Road, said city spokeswoman Kari Spreeman.

Pioneer acts as a frontage road to Excelsior Boulevard to the west of Shady Oak Road. Terri Brey, who lives nearby, said the body was on a median strip between the two roads.

Spreeman said a passing motorist notified authorities.

Authorities have yet to release the woman's identity or address the circumstances leading to her death.
