What's next for Vikings coach Leslie Frazier? It's hard to say.

But at present, the vibe around WInter Park is that the first-year head coach will be around for 2012. The Star Tribune reported two weeks ago that Frazier had earned a vote of confidence from owner Zygi Wilf. On Wednesday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press also indicated Frazier had been assured he would not be dismissed at season's end, even after a season during which the losses have come at five times the frequency as the victories.

Earlier this afternoon, Frazier was asked to confirm whether he had total job security going forward but didn't go to that extent.

"Really haven't talked a whole lot about what has to happen with me," he said. "Everything is really about getting ready for this New Orleans Saints game. I'm very happy to be head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and that's where my focus is. But there is no indication from anyone in the organization that things are going to be any different from a leadership standpoint in 2012."

Asked later whether ownership at least seemed to be on the same page in terms of his long-term vision for the team, Frazier nooded.

"We share that same vision," he said. "We know where we are. We had an idea prior to the season. But definitely during this season, we've had many discussions about where we are now and where we want to be and how we have to get there. We're going to talk more in detail when the season's over. But we're on the same page on the things that need to happen going forward. I'm optimistic in a lot of ways. This has been a challenging year for sure, for all of us. But, I really believe there will be better days to come."

On Monday, Frazier told the Star Tribune he was concerned with finding more quality depth and players who fit his systems well going forward.

"Look around our league and see what happens when you lose a front-line player, how big a dropoff it is on certain teams," Frazier said. "Our team is not a whole lot different. It's something I hope to address with our personnel people after the season."

If Frazier is indeed secure for 2012, he plans to make it a top priority to get on the same page with others in the front office to make sure the rebuilding plans are consistent.

"That's going to be the key going forward for us," Frazier said. "Myself, [Vice President of Player Personnel] Rick Spielman and his scouts understanding exactly what we need to win here. To create that quality depth, our scouts have to know as much about what we're looking for as I do. So they've got to be well-versed in what we're looking for in a wide receiver, a running back, a defensive back, a lineman, everything. What fits what we do. Not necessarily what would fit in New England or Green Bay."
