Eden Prairie didn't want to go home early. Instead the Minnesota team in the American Legion World Series in Shelby, N.C., sent Waipahu, Hawaii home.
The 2010 national runner-up beat the Hawaii team 10-2 with a 17-hit attack. EP scored either one or two runs in seven of the eight innings it batted. Leadoff hitter David Belusky, the center fielder, was 3 for 6 and catcher Danny Blasy 3 for 4. Both scored two runs and had one RBI.
First baseman Tyler Peterson and right fielder Lance Thonvold hit back-to-back solo homers in the sixth inning for EP. Tyler Ruemmele started and went seven innings for the victory. He gave up just five hits and one earned run.
EP is now 39-8, Waipahu finishes 24-7.
