Wintry Mid-Week Outlook

Cold air pouring into the eastern half of the nation will highlight mid-weekweather.Freezing daytime temperatures will span the interior Northeast and centralAppalachians to the Great Lakes and northern Plains.

Cold winds will once again whip the big Eastern cities, making it feel wellbelow freezing.

Lake-effect snow will let up in some areas, but will still fall heavily infavored spots of western New York State.

Farther south, northerly winds will keep an obvious chill in the air deep intothe South, even into Florida.

Meanwhile, farther west, relatively mild air will waft eastward between thePacific Coast and the High Plains.

Coastal rain from Seattle to about San Francisco will become snow or mixedwintry precipitation over the interior Northwest.

The nation's mildest weather will spread beneath sunny skies over the desertsof Arizona and southeastern California.
