Commuters in the metro area and in eastern Minnesota could wake up to a fresh blanket of snow Wednesday as another storm system moved across the state Tuesday evening into the morning.
Travelers can "plan on slippery road conditions," said the National Weather Service, which issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Whatever precipitation falls should wrap up by Wednesday afternoon, and light winds and temperatures in the mid-30s should make travel manageable on Thanksgiving, said forecaster Jake Beitlich.
However, a third system bringing rain and snow will move into the region on Thanksgiving afternoon and hit the metro area in the evening into the overnight, forecaster Lisa Schmit said Tuesday night.
Luckily, there will be a break in the beginning of the weekend.
Friday and Saturday look to be dry, with temperatures in the mid-30s in the Twin Cities.
Sunday will start another round of mostly rain, especially in the southern part of the state, with temperatures in the lower 40s that will last until Monday evening, Schmit said.
