Winfield says 85 percent chance he'll play

Pro Bowl cornerback nears return from foot injury

Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield said during his weekly appearance with KFAN's Paul Allen that there's an 85 percent chance he'll play Sunday against Seattle.

Winfield has missed three-plus games because of a right foot injury suffered Oct. 18 against Baltimore. Winfield told Allen that he was getting more treatment at Winter Park this morning and then was going to do some running to see how it feels.

Winfield said on Friday that his foot felt good running straight ahead and side to side but that he still felt a little pain when he planted and cut.

Vikings coach Brad Childress gave his players a Victory Monday, which means the day off so not sure how many players will actually be in the locker room during media access.

A number of people have asked about whether a horse-collar penalty should have been called on Detroit's Phillip Buchanon when he prevented Adrian Peterson's touchdown with the tackle/strip from behind. Buchanon definitely grabbed Peterson by the back of his shoulder pads with his left hand before punching the ball free with his right hand.

We'll get Childress' explanation during his press conference at 12:30 p.m.
