Cooper Hill Willamette Valley Pinot Gris 2015

It is said that Oregon vintners do just as well with pinot gris as pinot noir. Certainly, the Cooper Hill Willamette Valley Pinot Gris 2015 ($13) would fare splendidly in a comparison tasting with iterations from Italy, France or the rest of the U.S. Lush but clean, with sparkling stone and tropical fruit flavors and spot-on acidity, this is a rich, racy rendition. The grapes are grown on ancient volcanic slopes, and many of the vines were planted by Cooper Mountain Winery founder Dr. Robert Gross and his wife, Corrine, in 1978. This finely focused white is a natural match for fried fish or chicken and Tex-Mex dishes.

Available at the Vintage, Franklin Nicollet, Sid's, Cotroneo's, Swirl, Vinifera and others.
