Chateau Tour des Gendres Bergerac Sec

The delicious Chateau Tour des Gendres Bergerac Sec ($15) is made for fans of New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Check that: It's actually made for any lover of crisp, summery white wines. The sémillon that's blended with the sauv blanc provides a softer, honeyed note, which makes for a smooth, expressive midpalate and finish. The fruit/acid interplay fairly tickles the palate. This gem from southwest France is made with grapes grown organically on the banks of the Dordogne River, just east of the Bordeaux region. One would be hard-pressed to find a better match for trout, but most any fish or fowl preparation would cozy right up to it. There's some of the swell 2013 vintage still around, with the even tastier '14s hitting the market soon.

Available at South Lyndale, Solo Vino, Sunfish and North Loop.
