One of the coolest mini-trends in the wine biz is the increasing availability of cans. One of the best iterations is the 2014 Underwood Oregon Grown Pinot Gris ($7 for 375 ml.). This white gem has a very expressive floral nose (in the glass, not the can) and pure, clean citrus and stone-fruit flavors. FYI, there is a liner inside the can that prevents the aluminum from contacting the wine. Bonus points for its size, which is half of a regular bottle and provides two healthy glasses. So it's great as an aperitif or paired with fish tacos (actually most any Tex-Mex dishes) and anything with avocados in it.
Available at Lunds & Byerlys Maple Grove, Surdyk's and Elevated Wine and Spirits.
