Honeysuckle on the nose is almost inevitably a good sign for the wine to come. That's certainly the case with the 2014 Overgaauw Stellenbosch Chardonnay ($14), whose heady aromas are only part of its charms. This South African beauty is a chardonnay for those who enjoy the California style (tasty tropical and citrus flavors) and more traditional iterations (just-right acidity, surprising crispness for something aged in 100 percent oak). The finish is generous and clean. Fish tacos, sauteed scallops, grilled tuna — heck, any seafood preparation — would rock with this wine.
Available at France 44, South Lyndale, Sunfish, Liberty Village, Lunds & Byerlys, Excelsior Vintage and others.
