WINE
Spain is best known for its tempranillo, but it produces stellar garnacha (grenache) at all price points. The Monte Oton Garnacha is a screamin' bargain at $9, a bit delicate but not wimpy, with great texture and fruit-tannin integration. It's ripe and has surprising depth for its price point, but soft enough to pair well with pork and veal dishes, not to mention that dead-of-winter staple, roasted root vegetables.
