WINE
In Bordeaux, malbec is viewed as a blending grape, and a secondary one at that. In Argentina, of course, malbec is the star of the show. But the La Posta Del Viñatero Cocina Tinto Mendoza 2009 ($15) is an indication of how tasty a malbec-based blend (in this case, with syrah and bonarda) can be. Along with gorgeous red-fruit aromas and flavors and a touch of smokiness, this red has a smooth, almost lush mouth feel and finish. Pizza, grilled pork chops (or brats) and spicy Latin or Asian dishes are among many suitable companions.
