Who says you can't get a good California cab for around $10? Actually I often do. But the Jim Tonjum "Different Drummer" Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon ($10) is one of those exceptions that prove the rule. It's ripe but with a nice underlying dryness, soft tannins and a swell mouthfeel. It works as a "cocktail wine" and with burgers, pizza or a hearty beef stew.BILL WARD
