Wine

In some instances, two heads are better than one. Certainly that's the case with the 2013 Charles & Charles Columbia Valley Rosé ($12), although it must be noted that Charles Bieler makes a dandy Provençal rosé bearing his family name. This Washington wine (made with Charles Smith, primarily from syrah), is a vivid pink with gorgeous strawberry note. It starts lean and than gets fuller on the palate, with a zesty finish. I'm hard-pressed to think of an appetizer or salad that wouldn't play well with this, and it also has enough heft to serve with white-meat or vegetarian entrees.

Available at Whole Foods, Glen Lake, Liquor Boy, Surdyk's, Byerly's/Lunds, Hennepin Lake, South Lyndale and France 44

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
