Willie Nelson is coming back to the Twin Cities, and it's about time. The 76-year-old icon will perform March 26 and 27 at Mystic Lake Casino.

Even though he has averaged more than 200 shows a year for decades, Willie hasn't played in the Twin Cities since he opened for Bob Dylan in 2005 at Midway Stadium. His last local headline gig was in 2002 at Northrop Auditorium. Remember when Willie used to play just about every year at the State Fair?

Well, he's overdue.

Of course, the Red-Headed Stranger has another new album coming. "Country Music," produced by T-Bone Burnett, is due April 13. It will be Willie's first album for Rounder but about his 80th studio recording. Burnett is known for his Grammy-winning work on "O Brother, Where Art Thou" and "Raising Sand" by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. Burnett used some of the "Raising Sand" musicians on Willie's album.

Mystic Lake tickets, priced at $61 and $69, will go on sale Jan. 30.
