We're back after a late night with the start of free agency. Running back Chester Taylor is scheduled to visit the Chicago Bears today and it won't be surprising if he signs a deal.
Both Foxsports.com and the Chicago Tribune reported that Taylor his seeking at least $8 million in guaranteed money. That is a big pricetag, but the Bears are wanting to make a splash in free agency so they are probably willing to meet those demands.
Other teams are interested in Taylor, but it will be surprising if the Bears allow him to leave Chicago without a deal in place. The Bears also are hosting defensive end Julius Peppers today so it could be a big day for the Vikings NFC North rivals.
With Taylor presumably out of the Vikings picture, the team now must identify a backup for Adrian Peterson. Do they target Brian Westbrook? He obviously is very familiar with their offense and coach Brad Childress from their time together in Philadelphia. Westbrook seemingly would be a good fit but his injuries and recent concussion issues are something to consider.
Do the Vikings try and find a running back in the draft or give the job to Albert Young?
What are your thoughts?
Update: Fox's Jay Glazer tweeted that Taylor and Peppers are in Chicago taking physicals.
