Will 'Pokemon Go' last? Three other hits that eventually fizzled

Whatta week for "Pokemon Go." The geocaching mobile game took over the world faster than you can say Pikachu. But is it here to stay? Plenty of blockbuster mobile games and hotter-than-hot social networks eventually found an early grave. Here are three hits that were huge, and then — poof! — gone in an instant, like a Poke-monster.

1. Myspace. This granddaddy of social networks ushered in the era of "friends." Everyone had an account. And then they didn't. Tom, where you at?

2. "Flappy Bird." Another mobile megahit game that spread across the world like a virus. And then, bam, it was dead — pulled by its maker, who felt guilty for its addictive nature.

3. Gowalla. When it comes to location-based social networks, most of us remember Foursquare (some of you are still hanging on — let it go). Gowalla was its smaller rival. It shut down in 2012. Why? Worst. Name. Ever.
