Just the local star power of Minnesota-rooted "Born Again" hitmaker Cory Chisel should be enough to fill up 7th Street Entry on a Monday night, but there's a chance a much bigger name might join him there tonight: Norah Jones, she of Grammy-sweeping "Come Away With Me" fame, has been performing with Chisel and the rest of the so-called Wild Rovers Tour lineup since last week.
Jones' outing with the tour included a stop over the weekend in Chisel's home base of Appleton, Wis., where the Post-Gazette reported that Jones came out unannounced and mostly sang back-up vocals and played keyboards with Chisel and other acts on the bill, which also features the Candles, Spacewoman and Chisel's sidekick Adriel Denae.
How did Jones get hooked into this one? Chisel and his band the Wandering Sons toured as her opening act last year. Also, the Candles are led by her bassist, Josh Lattanzi.
The club's staff and band reps are mum on the subject. If Jones does show up tonight, she sure did take a roundabout way to finally playing a gig in the Entry, performing at Xcel Energy Center and selling 10+ million records before deciding to hit the little room. We're pretty sure she has never even played the First Ave main room, either, since she pretty well skyrocketed out of the gate and went straight to theaters on tour in 2002.
