Will 3-day draft create more deals?

Vikings VP of player personnel Rick Spielman said he isn't sure that will be the case.

There has been speculation that the NFL's switch from a Saturday-Sunday draft to a three-day event that begins with the first-round on Thursday night could create the opportunity for more teams to make trades because there will be more time to consider deals.

Rick Spielman, the Vikings vice president of player personnel, said he isn't certain if that will be the case.

"I don't know how it will affect it," Spielman said. "Where before it was boom, boom and the next day you get into those five-minute rounds and it's rapid fire. Now you've got the evening and the next morning to re-evaluate where you are at. Maybe potentially there is more time because it is extended out. But even in the old format there were a lot of trades, especially people jockeying for position. I don't think there are going to be trades of players for draft picks. I think it's going to be just jockeying for position like people normally do on draft day."
