Wild week in review

January 3, 2010 at 5:49AM

Record: 1-3

• The week opened in grand fashion when Eric Belanger silenced the sold-out Staples Center with the winner in a 4-3 triumph against the Kings. But the Wild had no legs the next night in a 4-2 loss at Anaheim, then returned home to play a terrible 60 minutes during a 5-2 loss in a rematch with the Kings. An overflow sellout saw the Wild lose to the Devils 5-3 on Saturday night.

STAR TRIBUNE'S STAR OF THE WEEK

Andrew Brunette, left winger: The Wild's leading goal scorer and second-leading scorer had a goal and two assists in three games.

THIS WEEK: Three games

Tuesday: at Chicago, 7 p.m. Wednesday: vs. Calgary, 7 p.m. Saturday: vs. Chicago, 7 p.m.

• The Wild will fly to Chicago this afternoon -- a day earlier than normal -- because it's the father-son trip. The Wild visits the Blackhawks, then returns home for the second of a back-to-back against the division rival Flames.

THE QUOTE

"Date back to the beginning part of the year, and I don't think we even played that bad." — Defenseman Greg Zanon on Thursday's loss to Los Angeles.
