Russo here, although I'll be back on the clock so to speak Thursday after I return to town in the morning.
Wild likely won't announce which defenseman it is calling up until the morning. There's Tyler Cuma, Drew Bagnall, Jeff Penner, Chay Genoway and Kris Fredheim.
To recall Fredheim to make his NHL debut, he'd have to be signed to an NHL deal because he's currently on an AHL deal. But that is very much in the cards.
Fredheim, 24, is a former Canucks draft pick that played at Colorado College. He hails from Campbell River, B.C., and is a team-leading plus-7 with two assists in 15 games. We'll see. Any D recalled would be making his NHL debut, except Bagnall.
Talk to you tomorrow.
AND UPDATE AGAIN: Wild did sign Fredheim, meaning he should make his NHL debut tomorrow. Here's his digits. Talk tomorrow.
Greetings.
Back after a five-game road trip and about to begin a six-game homestand, Wild coach Mike Yeo gave his guys a chance to rest today. There was a noon meeting with the players. Afterward a few players did some skating but most took advantage of the rest.
