Wild shuts down Granlund

December 5, 2013 at 6:41AM

Wild center Mikael Granlund, who has missed five of the past six games and three in a row because of a concussion, is being temporarily shut down.

"He skated [Monday] and we're at the point now where let's just take some time off here and make sure we get this right," coach Mike Yeo said.

Monday night, Yeo said Granlund was "progressing." Wednesday, Yeo wouldn't say if Granlund suffered a setback or symptoms after the skate.

"I just know that we're not making progress, and so what we're doing right now, we have to take a different approach," Yeo said.

Getting work

Josh Harding, who is 14-4-3, is scheduled to start Thursday's game vs. Chicago, while Niklas Backstrom is expected to start Friday in Columbus. Even though it's clear, Yeo was asked if he would label Harding the Wild's No. 1 goalie.

"I don't get into that stuff, but he's playing like he deserves it, let's put it this way," Yeo said. "We know we also have another No. 1 goalie in Backy."
