Widespread, Excessive Drought in the South

A large portion of the extreme southern United States continues to be plaguedby severe to excessive drought.The worst of the long-term drought was centered over Texas. The combination ofthe overall weather pattern and the dry ground is responsible for the extremeheat wave across the region.

The Southeast coast has also been abnormally dry this year, but it does looklike the weather pattern will be turning wetter over the next couple of weeks.
