Don't call it a beauty pageant, creator Scott Mayer has said. Yep, it seems there is a lot more to One Man Minneapolis, an all-male competition that brings together style, brains and most of all, a passion for charity work.

Online nominations are now open at www.onemanminneapolis.com, and will be accepted through March 5. The nominees (men between 24 to 44) must represent "the best of the Twin Cities from the perspectives of community involvement, personality, intelligence, and fitness." Nominate yourself or have someone else do it for you.

On May 22, the five finalists will compete at the Pantages Theatre before a live audience in the areas of fashion, pop culture trivia and other fun interviews. A panel of judges (with help from the audience) will pick the winner.

More than 26,000 votes were cast to help determine last year's finalists. Police officer and Peace Foundation board member Mark Klukow was named the winner.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
