The accompanying graphics display who AccuWeather.com feels is most likely atrisk for the snowstorm later in the week. Within both of these corridors, snowheavy enough to severely impact travel and daily routines is expected.As shown on the above graphic, heavy snow will fall from eastern New Mexico tonorthern Arkansas and southern Missouri. For many areas, the snow will begin aseither rain or ice. Before a change to snow takes place, there could be anextended period of sleet and freezing rain east of the Texas and Oklahomapanhandles. The storm will start impacting the southern Plains Wednesday nightbefore departing early Friday.
The Ohio and Tennessee valleys will become the target of the storm'ssubstantial snow on Friday. This zone should shift to the mid-Atlantic Fridayinto Saturday. An icy mix would create treacherous travel from central NorthCarolina to southeastern Virginia.
It should be noted that the exact track of the storm is not set in stone,especially towards the weekend. Snow could spread farther north into southernNew England this weekend. It is equally possible that the zone of snow and iceshifts farther south into the Carolinas.
