For the United States as a whole, this will be the whitest Christmas in manyyears. The existing snow cover is already quite extensive, and ensuing stormswill add to the snow-pack in both the West and East.Currently, there is no sign of a major thaw that would cause a completemeltdown over a broad area. A blocking pattern is going to keep much of thecountry chilled through much of the upcoming week.
On Thursday, computer models were pretty much in agreement that the Northeastwas in line for a big snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. That notion wasweakened by conflicting information received on Friday. We do know the nextstorm will cause significant snow from the northern Rockies into the Centralstates next Tuesday and Wednesday, but where it will go after that remains tobe seen.
We'll be checking on that. In the meantime, there is a big winter storm takingaim at the mid-Atlantic right now. Check our other headlines to see just howbad it will be for your area.
