Owner Dave Smittkamp gets closeouts, overstocks and comfort exchanges and discounts the mattresses of varying brands about 20 to 50 percent less than department store sale prices. Queen sets, for example, are between $400 and $650. Dave works by appointment only since he closed his Bloomington store, but he opens the store once a month. The next weekend he's open is September 19-20, but appointments can be made anytime.

In the October issue of Consumer Reports, the mattresses from Original Mattress Factory and Costco won the top two spots. Local company Select Comfort was number 6 in the list of 14.
