October is the time of year we get to enjoy those nice refreshing winds fromthe north, right?Wrong! The only place that will have refreshing breezes Saturday is northernNew England. Elsewhere, very warm weather will occupy a very large area fromthe southern Plains to the central Atlantic states. Just about everyone in thissection of the country can expect temperatures topping 80 degrees Saturdayafternoon, and the southern Mississippi Valley will have lower 90s.The exceptional warmth can be attributed to the large northward displacement ofthe jet stream. This keeps cold contained to the north and allows warm air easyaccess from more southern latitudes.
