Where are the flowers?

Waiting and watering, but still no blooms

Almost everything in my garden is an over-achiever this season, thanks to the early spring and rainy June. New tomatoes pop out daily. Flowers bloom in big bursts of color. The one exception is three furry-leaved plants that have not produced a single bud.

I'd never grown this plant before, but the tag had a picture of lush purple flowers in a tall cluster. I wanted the height for my containers, so I decided to give them a try. I planted them in mid-May, then tossed the tag. Bad idea, I know. Now I have no idea what those plants are and what conditions they need to bloom.

Every day I water them and stare intently at them, hoping to see some flower action starting. But so far, all I see is new pairs of tiny green leaves forming.

Anybody recognize these plants? Any suggestions on what might make them happy? And are you a tag-tosser -- or can you name everything that's growing in your garden?
