Here is what the Walker is offering this month at its annual four-week series of avant-garde performances:
Jan. 8-10: "The Evening," by Richard Maxwell and the New York City Players. Maxwell takes a minimalist approach to a story of three people who talk about their desires and dreams, all the while wasting their time in a dive bar.
Jan. 15-17: "Still Standing You," by Pieter Ampe and Guilherme Garrido. This duo explores the line between playfulness, slapstick and violence in a vulnerable and raw performance. Contains nudity.
Jan. 22-24: "Cineastas" by Mariano Pensotti. Four filmmakers are deeply affected by their own process. A split set allows us to see the juxtaposition of real life and the film set. In Spanish, with English subtitles.
Jan. 29-31: Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental + Wilhelm Bros. and Co. A visual and sonically complex opera centered on the final days of Edgar Allan Poe.
Where: Walker Art Center, 1750 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. • Tickets: $18-$25; 612-375-7600 or walkerart.org/tickets • Every Saturday: Workshops with artists at 11 a.m.; limited room.
