Next week: Legislation expected to be introduced to renew the assault weapons ban and limit ammunition magazines to 10 rounds.

Coming weeks: President Obama, who signed 23 executive actions on Wednesday, and Vice President Joe Biden will take the campaign on the road as they seek to build public pressure on Congress to act on their proposals. The NRA has signaled it's ready to fight the proposal, but doesn't give specifics. Meanwhile, governors across the country are moving forward with their own agendas on an issue that could well play a role in the 2016 presidential primary race.
