Salads for a good cause at Target Field

Amid the hot dogs and heaping platters of nachos at Target Field, hungry baseball fans also can have a healthy salad. Really. Roots for the Home Team returns again for a fourth season with its popular selection of homegrown salads, the fruits (so to speak) of a team effort between St. Paul's Urban Roots (www.urbanroots.org) and Youth Farm (www.youthfarmmn.org). They employ dozens of teens who work in inner-city gardens growing produce to sell to local stores and restaurants, as well as free food for nursing homes and youth-program lunches. The teens have created eight "garden goodies" salads and sell from a cart at Gate 34 inside the ballpark. They'll be there for all weekend home games through Oct. 4. FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
