When visiting fellow Master Gardener's back yards, I notice that many of them label their plants. Recently I've been thinking -- maybe I should do that!
For example, take a look at this plant. I got it last year at the Greengirls plant swap. I think I remember the person saying it makes great tea. WHAT IS IT? It has beautiful foliage and looks great next to my oregano. Now it's spreading like my oregano, but that's OK as long as I keep it in line. Is the person I swapped with reading this? What did I get? Can I make tea and how?
Then take a look at this. I thought it was Bee Balm. Nope. Looks more like a nasty thistle minty thing. AND
spreading like bee balm. Friend or foe? Pick or enjoy? WHAT IS IT?
And now I have a third quiz for you all. I'm planting sunny perennials in one spot and purchased some new plants last year – of course, leaving off the labels. Is this my hibiscus plant? Do I pick it.
As a Master Gardener people are always bringing in leaves and describing plants to me. I'm not an expert at plant identification – we'll leave that to my fellow Masters.
As you can see, I have things growing in my back yard that I haven't a clue to their I.D.
Maybe you smart Greengirl readers can help me identify these plants.
