MnDOT crews will start taking down the bridges on I-694 that cross Hwy. 252 in Brooklyn Center along with part of the westbound I-94 that passes over Hwy. 252. The result is that westbound 94 and both northbound and southbound Hwy. 252 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Motorists will encounter single lane traffic on all three roadways at the busy interchange.

This is the first of several weekend closures that will occur from now through November when the concrete repair project affecting I-694 between Hwy. 100 and I-35W will be completed.

During this weekend's closure, motorists will be detoured around the project. This weekend work invovles removing half of the westbound 94 bridge and the bridges crossing Hwy. 252.

In addition to the full closure, traffic will be reduced to a single lane from the 252/694/94 interchange over to I-35W. The $21 million project includes pavement repair, bridge deck replacement and drainage work on I-694 between Hwy 100 in Brooklyn Center and I-35W in Arden Hills.

Come Monday, traffic will continue to be restricted to two lanes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and to a single lane in each direction each night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Ramps/loops between I-35W and Hwy 100 will be closed for up to ten days at a time during this construction season. No two interchanges in a row will be closed so motorists will have access to and from the interstate at the next interchange.
