MINNETONKA

High school sailingchampionships set The Baker Nationals, the InterScholastic Sailing Association's 2008 High School National Sailing Championship, will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on the main lower lake of Lake Minnetonka. The races will take place just north of the Minnetonka Yacht Club at 19800 Minnetonka Blvd. in Deephaven.

Eight high school sailing teams from around the country will be competing. Teams of two sailors will be competing in 420 class sailboats.

One Twin Cities school, Minnetonka High, competed in the pre-qualifying races but did not qualify for the national championship. Other Twin Cities high schools with established sailing programs are Edina, Wayzata, Blake, Hopkins, the International School and Hill Murray.

The final eight schools in this year's championships are from California, Florida, Illinois, the Virgin Islands, and Washington State. This is the first time in 18 years that the event will be held in Minnesota.
