The school earns points for the number of votes it gets from students, parents and others on the Microsoft Store's Facebook page by Nov. 5.

School district gets 'green' lighting Bloomington Public Schools expects to save up to $60,000 annually by replacing old lighting in its schools with high-efficiency fluorescent lighting.

The move also will qualify the school district for a $155,000 rebate from Xcel Energy, which will go toward reducing the out-of-pocket installation cost to $46,000.

The lighting will be installed by the beginning of next year.
